Salt Spring Island

On Friday it was off to Salt Spring Island (a small island off the coast of Victoria, a 30 min ferry ride) for the night. It's where Ed's good friend Jesse, his wife Erin, and their 3 children Ella, Lukas and Tajo live. Again, we travelled by way of grandpa's Valiant.

Ysa in the driver's seat while on the ferry.

Once on the island we drove, and miraculously found, Jesse & Erin's house (cell phone service is sometimes difficult to obtain on the island...) They recently moved into a new house, and what another amazing view! It wasn't long before cold beers were in hand (Jesse had THE coolest beer opener...it actually talked!)

Before long, the kids were home from school. Ella and Ysabella took to each other quite nicely. She's very nurturing and motherly, a real pro already if you ask me!

Tajo and Ysabella. I'm not sure where he was, but I feel like I didn't see him all that much over the weekend...busy bee...such a sweet, sweet little man...the first time I met him (3 years ago) he looked me in the eyes while I was holding him and he said: "I love you!" in the sweetest little voice ever. It made my heart smile!
Ed's godson Lukas was recognized in the local newspaper for his salad recipe that he prepares for his family. His unofficial job is to put together the daily dinner salads (with the help of his mom, of course!) Each night something different and unique. Here's Chef Lukas doing his duty. (Poor Erin tried her darndest to get him to wear the Chef jacket, but he didn't want anything to do with it.)

And finally, the boys (Ed, Jesse, Howie and Dion) being...well, boys. Prepping for playing music just like in the good ol' days.

Some other shots from around the island:

Our lunchtime view:
Watching Jesse play in his soccer tournament, before the downpour.
Than it was off to catch the ferry back to Victoria to spend the rest of the day with family before returning home to Ottawa on Sunday.
