The weekend consisted of yummy food and wonderful friends! Bella loved having so many people over to visit. So much fun for her, all these new faces! Friday night, she had such ants in her pants and was so full of energy that she just didn't want to go to bed. Can you say overtired and overstimulated?? Poor thing. All that to say that she caught up on her sleep today. She and I spent the day recuperating from all the fun. We cuddled and played and rested... and played and cuddled and slept.
Now to pick some pictures to share with all of you. Such a difficult task, there are so many to choose from, but here it goes.
The first night. Jennifer and Eric hamming it up for the camera.
The other happy couple.
The second day: Shopping for dinner at Ottawa's Byward Market. (We also had some of the best Moroccan Pastillas that day! Mmmm! Thanks Eric!)
Chef Eric doing what he does best...chefing it up. (Seriously, he is a chef. We were very, very, spoiled!)

The dinner party: Eric, Ed, Miranda, John, Laurie-Anne and Jenny. (minus 2 missing people: Me (taking the pic) and Andrew, who joined us just after this shot was taken.)

Bella all dressed up in her pajamas and uber-cool sunglasses, but nowhere to go!

Colouring with Jenny on Saturday morning:

Cuddles with Jenny. Trying to keep Bella calm before bed Saturday night, despite the intense urge to run around naked after her bath, as she usually does when she wears her 'cape' towel.

The boys enjoying a cigar and a drink in the garage after Saturday's dinner. Such a guy thing.

After not sleeping well on Saturday night, Bella was a bit of a, um, cry-baby on Sunday morning. So, Jenny had the idea to take a digital photo of her crying and show it to her. It worked! She stopped crying! (And now she says "Bella" and pats herself on the chest, as if to say "I'm Bella!"
Crying:
Not crying! Yay!
Sunday was reserved for recuperation from all the weekend fun and for a visit to the Canadian War Museum in the afternoon. There's not much for a toddler to do at a museum like this, but she was on her best behaviour, and she found many things to keep herself occupied.
Playing with the buttons on a trench warfare model display. This occupied her for about 15 minutes!

Fearless Bella. Taking a walk through a life-size exhibit depicting trench warfare. (It was dark and she wasn't even afraid of a scary mannequin soldier that was sleeping just around the corner!)

Bella finds carpet and decides she wants to play 'Ring Around The Rosey', play 'Nighty-Night' and revert back to crawling. Um, okay, whatever works!
Playing with the exit arrow sign/sticker on the ground. (Yep, the silliest things kept her occupied!)
Checking out the soldier guy.
Taking a break with Jenny.
A view of Parliament Hill from the window of the War Museum.

No longer afraid of the tall bald man, Bella is perfectly comfortable playing in Eric's arms.

Like all good things, sadly, the weekend had to come to an end Monday morning. Bella high-5's Eric to say goodbye. Not even her baby blues could convince them stay.

Well my friends, it was a wonderful, wonderful time. Thank you, thank you for the visit! We must do it again, next time in Calgary. And hopefully before the 3 year mark! You're welcome to return anytime! Drive safely home, we'll miss you! xo
