Before you know it...

Ed, Ysabella and I just returned from a Child Care Connection meeting, a group that connects child caregivers in the area with families who are/will be in need of child care. And that, unfortunately, will be us in the near future. In less than 5 months, I will be returning to work full time. Boohooo :( The plan is that I will first leave Ysabella with her daddy in January when I return to work. (Ed is going to take one month parental leave which means he will spend 4 weeks at home bonding with his little girl in January.) This, we thought, would be much easier (for all 3 of us!)...to transition little Ysa to a babysitter slowly. If you've ever had to leave your child with a complete stranger, than you know the gross, gross, gross feeling that I'm talking about...it just feels so incredibly wrong to have to leave your baby, especially with somebody that you don't even know. While we've been thinking more and more about it lately, it really hit home for us tonite, especially Ed. The whole process was gross (I really can't think of a better word to use!). While we met a few caregivers and have yet to hold many, many interviews, we still felt like we were being pressured by a dirty used car salesman. These women came at us like piranhas!!...telling us how wonderful they are, and all we could think about was those crazy horror stories from those hidden cameras on those tabloid newshows like Dateline NBC...and that these women were just seeing a filled child care spot with dollar signs! Oh man, this whole process is NOT going to be fun. I think I'm going to go throw up now.

On a bit of a lighter note...the weather here in Ottawa the past few days has been lovely. Warm and breezy and dry! We had a great afternoon at the park with Karin and her kids Kahlan and Kieran, and Eileen and baby Ruby (who's no longer a baby anymore...and walking for goodness sake!...what was I thinking?? She is 3, afterall!)
