Cabane A Sucre

Spring = bye-bye winter, hello warmer weather. HELLO fresh maple syrup!
Yum Yum!

Last weekend we took our out of town guests to a traditional cabane a sucre. It was worth every penny!!! (I cannot tell a lie. It was terrible food that was way, way over-priced. Seriously, how much does cardboard-like pancakes really cost? And Amy's jaw ached the whole night from the deep fried bacon. Yes folks. Rock hard, deep fried bacon. Awful. And to top it off? Coffee, complete with grinds in the bottom of the cup. Tasty.) I won't tell you where we went, but please, please, if anybody knows of a good cabane a sucre here in Ottawa, one with descent food (I don't even need great food, I'd settle for edible food), then please, let me know.

Bella checks out the sap collecting in the buckets.

Bella, asking me if she can dip her finger in the sap.

It's all laughter now...'till somebody breaks a tooth on that bacon! (No, that didn't actually happen, but it could have!)

A cardboard-like pancake the size of Bella's head!

Me and my kiddies!

Spring also means mud. Lots & lots of mud.

The horse-drawn sleigh ride that, thanks to the warmer temperatures and melting snow, turned out to be a horse-drawn wagon ride.

Bella managed to keep nice & warm from the brutal wind by sitting in between her papa and her big cousin Jacob.

Stinky Scot, I mean, HORSES!
