Stranded!!

I'm sitting in our hotel room in a tiny town called Tusayan updating the blog because we're stranded at the Grand Canyon. In a blizzard! We were scheduled to drive to Sedona early this afternoon, but the snow, ice, and wind started last night and hasn't let up since (one foot accumulated thus far). And it looks like we won't get a break until at least tomorrow around noon. We will probably reschedule our flight from Wednesday in the a.m. to Thursday in the a.m. because it just isn't safe for us to try to get to Sedona and Phoenix before tomorrow afternoon. And I'll be dammed if we've come all this way and spent all this money and Ed doesn't get to see the Grand Canyon or Sedona!

You see, this was our view at the Grand Canyon today:
(Yes, we are standing right on the rim, the vast Grand Canyon just about 2 feet past those trees.) Spectacular view, no???
This is as much of the Canyon as we saw today. We braved the snow, ice, winds and roads for this?? (You gotta love it when the snow falls horizontally because it's sooo windy out.)

I look at the photo below and I laugh hysterically. Probably because I remember hiding from the wind and blowing snow/ice behind Ed. We could barely keep our eyes open for this photo it was so windy. (Better to laugh than to cry, I suppose!) Poor Ed. I hope the snow stops and the clouds clear, if only briefly, before we leave tomorrow. I'd hate for him to have to say he's been to the Grand Canyon...but that he didn't actually get to see the Grand Canyon!

Today's forecast:Oh, did I mention that our rental car sucks?! It's a white Chevy Cobalt. Which would have been fine, except the tires are bald! and there wasn't even a snowbrush in the car! How is that possible when the car has Utah plates on it? Doesn't it snow in Utah? (Me thinks Budget will be getting a phone call from me...)

And Ysabella is doing just fine with Auntie Amy. She's having lots of fun and is keeping very busy. Me on the other hand, I'm missing her like crazy! (We're on Day 4 of being without her...) So, to make me feel better, Auntie Amy sent me these videos tonite, taken from her cell phone (so excuse the poor quality, it is taken with a phone, afterall!)

I find the second video to be a little bit sad, no? Or maybe I'm just a mum who is really missing her little girl...
Thanks Auntie Amy for sending these to us!
